Brief Description: Engine compression test
To get a benchmark on engine health, I performed a compression test today. This will be important to be able to gauge future engine health and time to overhaul, especially using this more experimental Honda engine. The first couple of cylinders were showing about 120 pounds of compression, then I remembered that it's important to perform the tests with wide open throttle. After a quick warmup, I removed the spark plug (and cleaned) and connected the test gauge, disconnected my fueling and computer power, opened the throttle, and cranked the engine five revolutions, for each cylinder. The numbers are showing a strong and healthy engine (cylinder #1 is closest to the pulley belts, towards the front of the plane):
Cylinder #1: 143lbs Cylinder #2: 140lbs Cylinder #3: 137lbs Cylinder #4: 143lbs
