Brief Description: Installing the engine, part one, the lift
Ready to install the engine, but how do you get a 220 pound engine on top of an airplane? That's what I must figure out today.
I have an extremely strong hurricane resistant build hanger. My idea is to use a series of counter-balanced lines running over the trusses, and inch it up into the air, re-securing some safety lines every so often. I attached all the lines to the engine’s lift points, over the trusses and out to where I could hang gym weights on the line to counter-balance. After I had 100lbs on one side, and 150lbs on the other, I could lift it in place at about 63” high fairly easy.
