Since I have a large locking nose hatch, I wanted to create a luggage area up front to fit a couple of duffle bags and survival gear. With the avionics on a tray above the rudder pedals and the batteries as far forward as possible, there is a perfect area for this, so I fashioned some brackets and fiberglassed them to the hull, which holds a piece of wood across the width of the area. I'm hoping this has the added bonus of strengthening the nose. I found a great suede fabric (to help keep things from sliding around) that I'll attach to some aluminum bars, then attach those bars to the avionics tray and this piece of wood. The fabic will drape in this area, with some elastic on the sides, and I'll have a really useful front baggage compartment.
