Brief Description: Mod- Securing the elevator trim spings
Regarding the springs used in the electric elevator trim, on rare occation, pilots have had them become disconnected in flight when full up or down trim is used and the stick is deflected in a way that makes the springs compress all the way, losing flexibility, and coming off the bolts they are attached to. The standard mod to fix this seems to be cutting the springs in the middle, then reconnecting them, so that there's a weak spot in the middle that will give and bend, before the spring's hooks can jump off the bolt. I just couldn't bring myself to cut perfectly good springs, so my modification to fix this problem was to use the strongest fishing line I could find and wrap the springs' hooks with it in an "X" pattern, ensuring that they cannot become disconnected.
