The first week of June I was polishing the RV so the Bearhawk did not get much done and the second week I was out of town.
The flaps are quite large and require a certain amount of force to deploy them to the 40 degree setting. To assist with the retraction there are stainless steel springs connected to the torque tube that are under stress when the flaps are out and aiding with retraction. I needed to weld spring retention mounts. I was going to be out of town so I asked my friend Ryan to weld them. He is a professional welder and the work shows it.
