Brief Description:  Several tasks - 02

Continuing the process of finishing the skeleton of the wing so we can install the skin. After riveting the ribs there are several "little" projects that need to be completed to support all the systems. There is a cable that runs through the wing to actuate the ailerons. The cable runs along the aft spar to the aileron bell crank then forward to a pulley and back along the forward spar (more images will be provided as I install all the necessary components.)

Initially there is a farlead that is installed in the root rib of the wing to guide the cable run. You can see the farlead in image one and two. There is a potential for interference with the flap mechanism so the cable runs at a very slight angle. I need to calculate that angle and mark the rest of the ribs for drilling, but the process has started. There was some clearance issues that I needed to resolve to ensure the farkead did not rub on the rib, but it is finished now.

After riveting on the structure I decided I needed to measure the structure to ensure it was still square. I measured for twist along the 14.5' wing length and the wing spars are within 0.1 degree. I also measured across the angles (upper spar to lower spar) and over 14.5' I am within 1/16". I plan on calling that square for now. I will work on getting a little closer when we skin it.
