I fabricated and installed three shims. One on each side and one on the center section of the forward fuselage skin. The canopy frame did not provide for a smooth transition from it's edge to the aft edge of the forward skin. The canopy frame set slightly higher, maybe 0,030".
The shims are located under the aft rivet line of the forward skin and raises that aft edge slightly. I think the finish is much nicer.
