Brief Description:  Canopy adjustment

Finished sanding and priming the canopy forward fairing, Mounted it back on the fuselage and started the adjustment process. When you close tip-up canopys the struts force the canopy forward which changes the fit and finish on the aft edge. To correct that folks install some form of a canopy stop. You can see my stop installation on the build log entry dated xx-xx-xx. Those stops will keep the canopy from sliding too far forward when they contact the sub-panel. But the sub-panel is a little flexible so too much pressure from the stop causes distortion in the subpanel.

Remind me why is this important? The spacing of the gap between the forward canopy and the aft window is dependant on the amount of forward movement AND the placement of the aft window. To get the aft window in the correct position (so I can glue it in place (using Sikaflex) I need to get the canopy is the correct position. So it is a balancing act of moving the stops, check the canopy movement, check the subpanel distortion (if any), check the aft window placement and the gap inbetween. Adjust as necessary and repeat

End goal is 3/32"- 1/8" gap between the canopy and rear window. Vans suggest 1/16"inch gap, but some folks have complained about heat expansion causing the canopy to bind.
