Brief Description:  Crack!!!

I put the canopy back on the aircraft to adjust the canopy stops. I realized I needed the forward skin clecoed in place to stop the subpanel from moving. I raised the canopy and the center portion of the canopy frame caught on a cleco. I heard the crack and thought, Oh no the canopy.

Fortunately the canopy did not crack. Aluminum bends but fiberglass does not, at least not much. I had caused a small crack in the fiberglass. So today was repair day. Fortunately it was a small crack running parallel to the canopy about 1/4" in from the leading edge of the canopy frame.

First task was to sand down through the crack and create a filet for bonding new material. I laid down several layers of 6 oz fabric with some micro. Image two shows the initial sanding.
