Brief Description:  Canopy fit - 01

My wife came out to help me put the canopy on the aircraft. I was a little amazed at how badly it fit. Here are the problems.

1. The left side sits far enough away from the fuselage I can slide my hand underneath it.

2. The right side sits away from the fuselage, but only about half a finger.

3. The left and right side initial cuts seem almost too far. Which really bothered me. I went back and checked the excess I had cut off. I had cut right at the area where the mold clamp and distorted the canopy. Not even a 1/8" too much. You can see in image one the canopy is sitting a little high. More cutting to complete, so this should come down.

4. The canopy is suppose to rest on the roll bar (image two.) It sits about an inch? too high. It is hard to say, I am looking through the protective plastic so everything is a little distorted. But it is a little too high. Some of that distant is due to the canopy sitting on top of the fuselage skin. When it is installed the canopy will be under the skin. That is maybe a 1/4".

So at the end of the day, all I can do is continue to fit the front of the canopy. I will see how the fit changes when I cut the front to fit the curve of the canopy skin.
