Brief Description:  Canopy initial cut - 01

After prograstinating several days I decide it was time to make the initial cuts. I have been thinking about this for several days. At $1,200.00 to replace I was in no hurry to start cutting, but the cuts have to be made if I want to complete the plane.

What I discovered;

1. My compressor can NOT keep up (even a little bit) with the grinder. My technique has been to make one complete pass side to side, then start again. I can get 1 1/2 passes before the compressor is down to 50 PSI.

2. My compressor overheats when there is a high demand. So I can make 1 1/2 passes, usually the circuit breaker on the compressor will pop just about at the 1/2 way point. Reset circuit breaks, sit down, wait for compressor to cool, restart compressor, restart cutting.....repeat. It was a long day.

I did finish the aft cut. I should have cut it another inch shorter but it was my first cut.
