Brief Description:  Wiring update - 05

Over the last two days I have been connecting sensors to their respective wires. The systems connected so far are the fuel and oil pressure, with wiring run out to oil temp, ammeter, manifold pressure, volt meter, fuel flow transducer and both fuel tanks.

The wire looms started to get pretty thick. I have separated them as much as possible. Trying to find (or fabricate) good locations for clamps to support the wires. To prevent chaffing I split some conduit and encased two bundles (image one.) One carries wires up to the firewall pass through, the second has the wire bundle for all the wires headed to the other side of the aircraft.

The engine system pressures (oil, fuel and manifold) are provided electrical power from the engine management system. Dynon recommends pin 18 on the wiring harness. So how do you connect four wires together. I could have done some crazy series of splices but that would have been difficult to work on later (and ugly.) I mounted two three circuit terminal blocks on the back of the subpanel; one for power and one for ground. Pin 18 is wired to the power block and pin 13 (Dynon's ground) to the ground block. Now the pressure sensors have power and ground the terminal block and data connected to the appropriate data wire.

At a point where I need to move to mounting the wings and working on engine baffling. Those two items will need to be completed to see their impacts on the last of the wiring.
