1. I had one air vent that was binding on an instrument panel mounting bracket. It caused some distortion so I pulled the panel and filed both sides down enough for clearance.
2. Eventually I am putting in an all glass panel with avionics. I am a little concerned about the heat build up and I wanted warm air vented to the canopy. I drilled a small pattern of holes in the canopy frame deck. They are evenly split left and right as well as split between the monitors and the radios. With a small computer fan I will get some upward ventilation past the radios and monitors to the canopy. Cooling and warming all at the same time.
3. After drilling the pattern I lightly sanded the surface and did two more coats of flat black. I have not decided if I will cover the glare shield with some kind of fabric. Of course it will need cut outs for the two vents I just made.
