The filing was a process of filing a small amount, remounting the template and marking with a red sharpie to see where more work was needed. Once I started getting close to the correct size opening I moved from the template to the actual device. Finally it fit into the opening.
With the latch fitting into the opening I back drilled the rivets using the mounting angles on the inside of the aircraft. Then it was a slow process of opeing the mechanism and determining where it was binding, filing a bit and checking again.
It is about 99% complete. A 4th of July picnic will prevent me from finishing today.
