Brief Description:  Wing tips

With Doug Taylor's help we got the wing tips on the aircraft. They are fiberglass and do not match the wings. They are close but you still need to fit them properly. It took a little time sanding and cutting to get the fit I wanted and they came out really well. Doug showed me a trick he learned to assist keeping the wing tip tight using a cargo strap.

Both wing tips have been drilled to the wing skin and clecoed in place. I am using hinge pins to attach the wing tips. The next step is to back drill the hinges, then debur, countersink and rivet the hinge sides in place. One more day and this will be done.

I stopped working on wiring for two reasons. Doug was available to help (really important) and I want to install the lights in the wing tips. The cut out area you see in the wing tip is wihere the lights are installated. I wanted the wing tips installed before working on lighting. Once the hinges are down I wil pull the tips, install the lighting and then put the tips back on. With hinge pins it is only a matter of pulling the pins and the tip comes right off.
