No more waiting, it was time to drill. I went to the hangar to drill the rear spars. Of course I had to measure one more time. Everything was the same as the day before, well inside of Vans tolerances. I started by marking a line 5/8" from each edge. The plans require the center of the hole to have at least 5/8" edge distance. You can not see on image one but image two you can see the lines drawn on the rear spar doubler. The entire hole has more than 5/8" edge clearance. I searched for a 5/8" reemer to drill the hole to final size, but to no avail. You would think reemers would be easily available. After drilling the holes to 1/4" I slid the shaft of the drill bit in the hole. I guess I want to know if the wing shifts at all before I can get a reemer and finish the hole.
After drilling the spars I worked on drilling the wing fairing attachment holes. I was a little concerned with the edge clearance, but these are not structural.
