Brief Description:  Flaps and ailerons

Installed the right flap today. My wife assisted in the process of aligning the flap with the aileron. There are three measurements to be maintained or adjusted together. There is a 1/4" separation between the flap and the aileron (we have that.) The other two work together and against each other at the same time. The minimum edge distance for the rivets on the hinge is 3/16th and the flap and the aileron are suppose to be even. I ended up with the correcct edge distance on the hinge rivet line, but the flap sets about 1/64" or 1/32" different. That is to say if you place a straight edge on the flap and the aileron there is between 1/64" or 1/32" gap between the straight edge and the flap. I am not sure how much this will affect straight and level flight, but will check with Vans.

I also set the aileron pushtube length using an alignment tool provided by Vans with the kit (see photo three, you can make out the alignment tool. It is still covered in blue plastic.
