The cables that control the rudder and tail wheel have to exit the fuselage at the tail. Although there is no requirement to cover the slot that is cut in the side of the fuselage, many have made a fairing to cover the opening. I copied mine from someone at Vans AirForce.
In image one you can see the slot for the cable. Over the course of a few log entries I will show you the process I went through. It really is pretty simple. First I marked the outline of the blanks on some sheet aluminum and then cut out the blanks.
