Today I worked on drilling the aft fuselage to size. One bad part of moving the fuselage around is I have to make sure everything is level and square each time I move it. So I started the process by getting the movable support benches level, then ensuring the fuselage is level as well. I used a bullet level to check the fuselage and then a plumb bob as the instructions suggested. It took time but I wanted the fuselage to be straight without any twists. After checking and rechecking, I started the drilling process, Man there are alot of rivet holes in the aft section. To get the S channels centered I had already drawn a reference center line for alignment. I drilled a hole, clecoed and moved four or five holes down the line and repeated. Once I had the channel secure and aligned I drilled the rest of the holes. There are four channels so this took some time. Then it was time to drill the bulkheads. I got those finished and moved to the bottom skin. Like I said, there are a lot of rivet holes in the aft section. But they are all drilled. Next time it is disassemble the components, deburr, dimple or counter-sink, etc. The painful part of finishing.
