Brief Description:  Front deck - 08

Pulled everything back out of the aircraft for deburring, dimpling, priming and painting. You forget the amount of time it takes to deburr and dimple a skin and its underlying structure. The firewall was particularly fun, stainless steel is always fun to deburr.

Next was installing the clips that help hold the instrument panel in place. There are two on each side. I read on Bruce Swayze's web site that he had a difficult time riveting them. He suggested riveting the clips on (F-721) first, then rivet the nut plates. He was right. It was difficult enough given the odd angles to get the clips riveted on. It would have been impossible to do it with the nutplates riveted in place.

Image three shows the clips riveted in place. I have the instrument panel in place to double check the fit of the openings for the nutplates. After that I took everything back off to rivet the nutplates on. Tomorrow I will rivet the F-721s on to the longerons. If you are not sure which part is F-721 you can see the front of the left one in the third image. It is painted grey and is clecoed in place.
