Brief Description:  Mounting the vertical stabilizer - 01

Today I started to work on mounting the VS to the fusealge and ran right into a problem. The plans state to trim the VS forward spar 5/8" from the bottom edge. In image one you can see the line I drew before cutting. What I did not do was check the VS against the forward F-781 to ensure 5/8" was the right length. Unfortunately the correct amount to cut was about 1/16". You can see the edge clearance issues in image two (rivet line) and image three bolt clearance issues. If you look at the bottom of F-781 you can see the bottom edge of the existing bolt hole. And that bolt hole is only 1/8" wide. I have not drilled it to #12 yet. More in the next post.
