Brief Description:  Fuselage wrap up

Today I concentrated on getting the fuselage to the point of mounting the wings. Success!!! Between starting and success were a series of little jobs that needed to be wrapped up. First was the flap motor. After painting the interior I wanted to get it installed, but yesterday I discovered a slight lateral pressure on the motor arm when it was connected to the flap weldment. I decided to change the washer stack on the motor mount inside the flap mount. You can see the flap motor in photo 1, but I managed to NOT show the washer stack up. They are located behind the motor. Nice photo showing nothing I wanted to show. But that work did relieve the tension from the motor arm.

Next was mounting the flap channel (which contains the flap motor) inside the fuselage. In photo 1 the flap channel is upside down with the flap motor facing up. In photo 2 the flap channel is installed between the seats, the flap motor is not seen as it is on the back side. Photo 2 also shows the side panel installed, the white "bar" on the bottom is the flap weldment. Photo 3 shows the flap motor and arm connected to the flap weldment. As the arm extends and retracts it moves the weldment to lower or raise the flaps. Of course the side panels did not fit perfectly, so that required a little fiddling to make them fit well.

Then there were several other "small" tasks that needed to be completed. Two more rivets to drill out and reset. Two rivets that were under driven were corrected and a couple of parts needed some light sanding and repainting. General cleaning was next to get the fuselage ready to store. After the seats were reinstalled I covered everything up so the dust of the flight line would not cover everthing. Now it is time to start researching the tasks to complete the wings.
