Brief Description:  Making the fuselage rigid - 1

The day started off with working on the F-714 aft deck. There are two shims that lay underneath the deck. They are important when the empennage is attached to the fueslage bolt holes must be drilled through the aft deck and those shims. There is not a lot of clearance for holes and plenty of space for error. I want to make some reference lines on the deck that would help me identify where the bolt holes will be located (as much as possible) and give me an idea of edge clearance for the shims underneath. Sounds pretty easy, but I was flipping back and forth from one drawing to another. Rereading the plans and then taking the same measurements several times. I ended up with the reference lines you see in picture one. When the tail is mounted I will be able to see where my edges are located and drill appropriately.

After all that I drilled the F-714 Aft deck to the longerons and the shims.
