This project concerns filling the open hole where the step would have gone. Using the template in photo 1 I created to blanks to sit behind the opening. I initial thoughts were to rivet these in place with flush rivets, then rivet a 3/32 round plug to the backing and finishing with some micro fill.
Now that I have them in place (temporarily) I have decided not to insert the 3/32 round plug but just fiber glass over the remaining area. I could use the blanks behind as a dam and cover them with release agent. Or I may rivet them in place and then finish the flberglass.
