Brief Description:  Side project number two

While waiting to rivet I have been looking forward to see what parts or processes might be completed. There are two brackets that tie the center section to the lower longeron, F-7114 L and R. The plans do not state a specific time to put this in the airplane. I talked to Vans and their position was along the lines of "when I get to it." This seemed like a good time, so off I went only to discover a slight problem. They don't fit. As you can see from photos one and two there is about a 3/32 difference. At first I thought, how could I be that far off!!! I startd measuring everything to see where the plane was out of rig. Nothing. Time to call Vans. Their comment. This is really not uncommon. I had some choices. Enlarge the holes on the F-7114s or maybe take a little off the sides so the brackets will slide over the right amount. I am not crazy about enlongated holes.

So, I took a little off the outside to see if I could bring it inline with the center section. I got really close. Close enough for the bolt to almost fit. I decided to stop working on this until I flip the fuselage over. I will be able to see it better and then I will make the final adjustments. I thought I took a picture, but can not find it.
