Brief Description:  Tail wheel modification and more

On the fuselage prep, it has been dimpling, preping and priming....almost done. On the tail wheel mod I emailed Vans concerning the rivet holes left after removing the tie down bracket from the aft most bulkhead F-712. You can see the six holes that held the tie down in place.

As the exact position of the vertical stabilizer spar can not be determined until later, there is no way to know now if there is sufficient edge clearance for the two bolt holes that will be drilled when installing the VS spar. I could wait, roll the dice and find there is sufficient edge clearance or just the opposite. By that time the fuselage will be completed making the F-712 bulkhead much more difficult. Seemed a no brainer. So I ordered a new bulkhead from Vans. I spent the better part of two hours getting it to fit inside the tail section. Its about 90% done. I have to remove it to check the rivet line, get it ready for priming (sound familiar) and prime it. You can see in the picture I have marked the rivet holes with red marker. I want to make sure I have the correct clearance before drilling.
