Today I continued with the installation of the WD-409 tail wheel spring mount. After getting the F-712 bulkhead out of the way, it was relatively easy to get the WD-409 in place. The first picture shows the spring mount in place AFTER I drilled out the two lower rivets I had previously installed. For the tail wheel those were suppose to be left open. I clecoed the WD-409 in place and drilled the holes to the 1/4" size for the AN4 bolts. Of course, that was a process of multiple drill bits of different sizes slowing working up to 1/4".
After bolting the spring mount in place I checked the fit of the aft portion that butts up to F-711. The plans state a shiim may be needed and in this case I will need a shim that is 3/32". I checked my scrap pile and found a peice that will fit the bill.
I still need to resolve the hinge attaching point and the bolt clearances.
