Brief Description:  Continued fuselage work 02

Next on the work schedule was making access holes for the landing gear. The landing gear mounts attach to the center section allowing the landing gear leg to slide into its mount at the correct angle. Of course, this requires two oval shaped access holes be cut in the F-772 bottom skin. I made a template from the template in the plans, then made a second template. Julie (my Rosie the Riveter) double checked the second template. Then it was just a matter of marking the layout, drilling a few access holes and then cutting the oval shape. Next to them I drilled 5/8" access holes for the brake lines.

If you look at the picture below you can see a small amount of the flange from the F-704 center section. The plans state a small amount of the F-704 will have to be removed to ensure the landing gear leg can get to the mount. That is the next step in the process.
