Brief Description:  Center Section

Off today so I went to the hanger to get as much done as I can before the great riveting day. Next week is spring break and I will get my riveting partner for a couple days, so I plan on finishing the aft section. Today I finished all I could with the center section. The last few tasks I could work on were making the attachment straps for the two outside ribs for the baggage compartment and finish making the 5/8" holes in the ribs for the electrical conduit. With that completed I reviewed the riveting methods and discussion concerning the center section and the bottom skin. There are several rivets that need special counter-sinking and I wanted to make sure I do it correctly. After that I discovered the corregated tubing I ordered from Vans has an inside diameter of 5/8", not an outside diameter of 5/8". A small difference but all the pathway holes are drilled to 5/8", so I am going to send it back and find some that has an OSD of 5/8". It is interesting the plans tell you to drill a 5/8" hole, but they only sell tubing with an ISD of 5/8". Oh well, I have checked other builder's websites and they all seem to use other tubing.
