Brief Description:  Trim tab construction

After working 9 straight days I was finally able to get back to work on the airplane. I had recieved the rear spar for the left elevator from Vans. I got it into place and drilled it to match the skin. Then I triple checked my work and dimpled the bottom and counter sunk the top. Due to painting restrictions I had to take it home and prime it. Before taking it home I prepped the trim tab so it would also be ready for priming. Off to the house with all the various parts and pieces. I primed and went back to hanger and back to work. I finished riveting the bottom of the elevator and then went to work on the trim tab. The trim tab work went very quickly. The first step was to fit and drill the hinge for the trim tab. I got that done and moved to riveting the lower portion of the spar . The next step is to place the trim tab on the elevator and align it. I decided to stop at that point and do some minor modifcations. I did not like the way the inboard tabs of the elevator turned out after I bent them over. I got out my drimmel tool and cut the tabs off. I will fabricate a small stiffiner / rib to take their place. I forgot my camera, so I will take some photos to illustrate the mod.
