Brief Description:  Riveting the left elevator

After finishing the trim motor I went back to finishing the left elevator. First step in the process is riveting the various spars and ribs together that support the skin. Everything was going along smoothly, or maybe too smoothly, and I crushed a rivet. Of course it was in a location where I was using an offset to reach it with the rivet gun. I had to drill it out from the shop side. Took my time and got it out without affecting the hole, but that definitely slowed me down. Next was riveting the skin to the skeleton. I just got started when some friends showed up. After the tour and lots of interesting discussion I was back to work. It wasn't too long and I was done. The last step was to rivet the spar that holds the elevator trim tab in place. I looked at it and had to take a second look. I had dimpled the top and counter-sunk the bottom. Oh well, looks like I will be ordering a new spar from Vans. At least I can contine to work on the trim tab while I wait.
