Brief Description:  Guess what... more fairing work - 01

More tail faring work. I removed the fairing and flipped it over for a layup for strength. The cuts were pretty wide so I di a 1" layup on the bottom. It does not matter how it looks but it needs to add strength. Tomorrow I will lightly sand it just to have smooth transitions. Then it will go back on the aircraft for layups to build strength and ensure a proper fit. I may need make more modifications to get the fit I want, we shall see.

While that was curing I pulled the rudder. When I added the new improved shim on the forward side of the vertical stabilizer it changed the geometry of the rudder slightly and that was manifiested by the lower fairing making light contact with the spar and full left and right travel. I ended up changing all three bearings; a half turn for the top and middle and a full turn for the bottom. Everything fits better now. I will check the rudder fairing fit when I get the rudder back on, but the contact was so slight I am sure it will be fine.
