Continued work on the lower rudder fairing and the tail fairing. The lower rudder fairing is not going well. I ended up sanding through the work I did yesterday. So I worked on that repair. There is some interference from the fairing when the rudder gets to each stop. Not sure what the problem is, but I will need to figure that out.
While the rudder fairing was curing I went to work on the tail fairing. It fits horribly. I took it off and covered the tail in shipping tape. I wanted something to protect the aluminum and act as a release. I will need to cover it in wax when I start working on extending the layups I did today.
Today my goal was to get the fairing to lay flat on all its edges. You can see that I finally started hacking the fairing up. I used my dremel tool and anywhere there was presssure preventing the fairing from laying flat I cut into it. You can see in image three how a portion of the fairing wants to pull away. I almost cut it in pieces. But now it lays relatively flat, except for one edge. I will need to build it up and sand it down to normal thickness from the top.
