Brief Description: Tail finish work continues - 03
Worked on mounting the elevator tips. My first attempt to work with fiberglass. Lots and lots and lots of sanding... did I mention sanding. The photos tell the story. As you can see in image one there is a pretty large gap between the edge of the tip and the edge of the elevator. They should be flush together. If you look at image three you can see the tip is flush against the counterweight, so the tip will not move any closer to the edge of the elevator. I will need to build that area up and I am considering using flox. What I have not decided is blending the tip. Some folks advocate blending the tip to the edge of the elevator. It does look nicer, but adds to the build time.
