Fuel lines. I put the gascolator in the location specified by the plans (image 3) and the fuel pump is on the back of the accessory case. So I felt pretty confident the Van's supplied fuel lines would just fit. Ah, no. I guess Vans developed the fuel lines to work on a fixed pitch propeller because the line from the gascolator to the fuel pump is just right if you do not have a prop govenor. The govenor sits low enough that you have to put a 45 degree fitting on the fuel pump. That extra length is just enough to make the line about 1 1/2" too long. I tried the longer of the two as well but no joy.

The fuel line that should run from the fuel pump to the carburetor is not going to work either, but that is my fault. I installed a Red Cube fuel transducer and it needs to be between the pump and the carb. You can just make out the Red Cube in image one. Fortunately the line for the gascolator to fuel pump run does work for the Red Cube to the carb run.

I am working with Tom at TSFlightlines to fabricate two new lines, but I will need to build mock-ups first. Before I can build the mock-ups I need to pull the fuel pump and put in new fittings. But the govenor is too close and I can not remove the fittings. Once that is all back together I will build two lines from aluminum and send them to Tom so he can make steel, fire-sleeved lines. Did I mention I need a special tool to remove the fuel pump? Yeah it is on order. Maybe next week.
