Brief Description:  Moving along

While the weather has not be conducive for flying, so I have decided to press on with the vinyl wrap project. The weekend looks good for my first flight so this wrapping will stop when I have good weather for flying and start again with the rain.

Orignially I was going to start with the spinner but decided to try the simplest item I could find, the oil door. Perfect...it is straight, almost square and no compound curves. Well it took about an hour and two attempts to begin to understand how the vinyl can be strong and flimsy. It can stretch and shrink with heat. It can be scratched and torn.

This is not a quick replacement for paint and paint prep. The vinyl shows pretty much everything AND your work area has to very clean. Any small particle trapped under the vinyl will show. I used a paint heat gun but it is too hot even at the low setting. Time to steal my wife's hair dryer.
