I removed the ARINC device to make room for the EFIS batter back up. The battery is quite large and took up more space than I thought it would. Really the only place for it was above the fuse panel (see image one.)
That meant relocating the ARINC device. I decided to place it above the avionics stack and include a cooling fan for the radios. I just incorporated both into one shelf that mounts to the top of the instrument panel ribs. This sets the ARINC and fan about 2" above the radios. Image two and three show the devices laying on top of the panel while I decide exactly where they will be mounted.
I made the shelf out of 0.040". Maybe a little too thick but with the fan installed I wanted something that would with stand the constant running of the fan. On either side, the front and back as it is installed, I bent a 3/8" flange to stiffen the shelf. It will be held in place by screws and nut plates
