Brief Description:  The cowling chronicle continues - 10

Pulled the cowlings and started the process of filling pin holes and depressions made by the mold. There are quite a few. One other step I completed was cutting the hole for the oil access door. I worked at cleaning up the edges of the depression the doors fits into. I plan on filling around the edge of the door for a smoother, molded appearance. Folks have complained about the flexibility of the door, so using the material from the cut out I will add to the door for strength. In image three you can see the pink material behind the oil access door.

The plans have a process for filling all the pin holes and craters in the cowling, cut epoxy with acetone and paint it on the cowling. The thinning by acetone helps to flow the material into the pin holes. So I mixed up a batch and covered both cowlings. We shall see tomorrow after it dries over night.
