Brief Description:  The cowling chronicle continues - 06

After finsihing the top Skybolt flanges it was time to start trimming the upper cowling. Initially I got the cowling in place and double checked the cut line I had laid out yesterday. Pulling the cowling I got out my trusty dremel and cut the cowling about 1/8" from the cut line. I know, you can fix anything in fiberglass. But why make a cut that needs to be fixed.

After several iterations of put the cowling on, mark it, pull the cowling off, sand about 1/32" off I finally started to get close on fit and finish. Images one and two show both sides of the aft edge of the cowling. I have approximately 1/4" at the front edge at the prop spinner aft bulkhead. But this is way too tight for a final fit, it is okay to get the lower cowl in place and trimmed.
