Brief Description:  Staying with engine controls

I followed the plans for the placement of the throttle, mixture and carb heat cables. But the placement doesn't work for my installation. So I ended up with two hole in the wrong location and needing a new hole drilled. And I wanted to use eyeball enclosures for the throttle and mixture cable.

In the first image you might be able to see some of the issues. The lowest hole, originally for the mixture cable was too low and interfered with the engine mount. Right above it is a nutplate for the fuel pump and above it is the hole for the carb heat. It is too close to the nutplate and the throttle cable hole. The other problem was the fuel pump doubler interfered with the new locations.
New plan and fix. I purchased some matching gauge stainless steel and cut a large section to act as a patch for the exist hole I needed covered. Instead of a small section I fabricated one that was large enough to cover the entire area (see image two) as well as a new doubler that matched the stainless. That provided a new base for implementing the new hole locations. The new cable locations were created with a Greenlee hole punch. Man, that is nice tool. In image two and three you can see the new locations. From top to bottom; throttle, mixture and carb heat. I still need to install the eyeball enclosures for the throttle and mixture. Then apply firewall sealant and rivet the whole thing to gether. They should look like the eyeball enclosure photo in previous day's entry.
