Brief Description: More tasks to get the tail closed
Removed the forward turtle deck (it sits just aft of the back window.) I need to remove a small 1" section of paint around the edge, this is where the SikaFlex will be applied. The skin has been on and off a number of times so I will check the dimples as well. Over time the clecos tend to flatten the dimples slightly.
I have been working on a place for the ELT. In the baggage compartment, in the tail, behind the seats and aft of the baggage compartment have all been considered, thrown out and re-considered. This is one of the pieces of equipment that must be installed IAW TSO requirements and in compliance with the manufacture's instructions. And it is not just the ELT but also the antenna as well. I won't go into the details here but behind the baggage compartment seems to be the best location with the least negatives. The largest of which is the aft CG arm or the 4 lb ELT. The other locations have greater CG impact or non-compliance issued. In any event the second image shows where I am installing the ELT mount. The antenna will be further aft.
