Worked on the fuselage canopy strut attachment point on the left side of the cockpit. Image one shows the general location of installation (red arrow.) One of the problems with the left side is the installation interference caused by the canopy release mechanism. I just can not get my hand up under the rail, or a wrench, to get the washers and nuts installed.
I copied an idea from another builder, Bruce Hill, and frabricated a plate with platenuts. You can see the plate in image two and three. The plate will slide inside of the rail with the platenuts behind the holes in the canopy rails. This allows the installation of the canopy strut attachment point without fighting washers and nuts.
