Brief Description:  Canopy initial cut - 03

Changed cutting tactics this morning. Headed to the hardware store and purchased several different cutting discs. All the discs are fit my dremel. I picked out three different styles with the plan on picking the best cutter.

Headed to the hangar and screwed blocks down to hold the canopy in place. I finished the front initial cut, but needed to cut the back a little more and complete the initial cuts on each side. With canopy held in place I pushed it into the sunshine to warm up. While it was heating I performed some test cuts to determine which disc I would use. One in particular cut through the excess canopy material easily and qucikly.

After an hour or so I went to work. The aft cut when quickly...sweet. The side cuts not so much. Part of the time required was the length of the cut and part was the access was not good (I can fix that.) In any event the cuts were completed. I then spent a good amount of time sanding each edge to get it relatively smooth. I need to cut this again tomorrow.
