Brief Description:  Canopy release - 01

Yesterday was Memorial Day, so no work in the hangar. I went to the services the VFW and the City held. On the way home my wife and I stopped at the hangar and removed the wings.

Today I went to work on finishing the canopy release system. After fabracating the spacers I drilled two holes (IAW the plans) and then drilled two holes through the spacers and the outside rib. I did this on the bench so the alignment was correct and I could easily reach with the drill. Then I clecoed everything back into the aircraft, including the skin. You leave enough clecoes out of the skin so you can lift it and get access to the mounting bolt holes. In image two the bolts are inserted through the spacers and up against the inside rib.

After drilling all three holes everything was removed from the aircraft.
