Brief Description:  Rudder stops - 01

Worked on building new rudder stops. I had enough material to fabricate one, so I thought I would get this one done. The edge distance between the elevator and the rudder is suppose to be 1 1/8 inches. This gives you 35 degrees of travel at the rudder. I cut two wood blocks to that size and taped them to both sides of the rudder. That way I can work underneath the aircraft and pull the rudder against the elevator using the wood block for the correct spacing.

I made the rudder stop a half inch longer and then cut it down to ensure it cleared the flange of the rudder spar and did not extend beyond the aft skin. Images two and three show the stop clecoed in place. You can see the cutout in image three. That is for spar clearance.
