Brief Description:  Elevator pushtube

Some friends were coming by to help put wings on the airplane. I got there early and worked on finishing the elevator pushtube. Using the tape method of determining the location of the eight rivets I layed out the eight rivet hole locations on the ends of the pushtubs. After inserting the bearing fitting in the pushtube ends, I drilled the rivet holes to size #30. Then using MSP-42 blind rivets I riveted both ends.

I had cut the tube slightly longer than the plans called for, I wanted to ensure there was more than half the bearing bolt was inside of the tube. After installing the pushtube in the fuselage the bolts were slightly more than half way inside the fitting. Just as planned.

Just about the time I was done, an EAA Tech counselor drove up. Rolf has been by a few times to look at my work. We went over the wings, the fuselage, the tail and some of the systems. He found two things I need to fix. It was good that he stopped by. It always helps to have someone knowledgable look over my work.
