Brief Description:  Cabin fuel line fabrication - 05

Image one shows the exit bends fabricated. The last measurement is from the edge of the fuselage to the fuel tank. That will have to wait until I can get the wing back on. I also spent some time testing my mock up for installation. I can slide the line in starting at the fuel valve and working my way to the wing. My biggest concern was getting the Ess turn through the support brackets, but there is plenty of room.

I turned my attention to the line running from the valve to the fuel pump. Somehow I managed to really mess up the original measurements. So I am making a mock up starting with the line from the valve to the fuel pump. Image two shows the mockup of the steel line portion. I want the line to give me about 1/4" clearance at the cabin floor. That should give me room to lay fire resistant insulation under the line.

At this stage you could make the arguement that I have spent more time building mockups than just fabricating the aluminum lines. Well, I started this because I did not want aluminum fuel lines under pressure running through the cabin. That is my design goal. The added safety is worth the extra work.
