I am trying to finish all the little odds and ends that need to be completed before the finishing kit arrives. Most of these tasks are associated with the wings. I have jumped around a little, usually waiting for parts, and have a list of tasks to get done.
Today was all left wing. I installed all the platenuts on the bottom of the wing and primed the area that will be covered by the fuseage during painting. I wanted to ensure there was no room for corrosion. Next I riveted and bolted the left fuel tank attachment bracket to the fuselage. After riveting, but before bolting, I primed the fuselage underneath where the bracket is located. This is another area that will not see any paint. After the paint dried, I applied the appropriate torque.
Inbetween all this I made four 3/8" spacers for the aileron alignment tool. It takes a 3/8" spacer to clear the aileron hinge bracket, otherwise the alignment tool has a slight twist to it. I need it straight to set the ailerons in the neutral position.
Seems like I should have completed more items. Those nutplates seem to take forever. Last step necessary inside the left wing is install the pitot tube. Maybe Thursday, tomorrow I am headed to the museum with my wife.
