Brief Description:  Left wing fuel tank and other tasks

Today I tried to get the left wing ready for the bottom skin to be riveted. First I worked on the left fuel tank. I needed to assemble the fuel pickup, the fuel level sensor, attach them to the fuel tank access cover and seal everything. The first image is the fuel pickup probe temporarily attached to the fuel access cover. The steps necessary to get the tank ready to seal are:

1. Drill the compression nut for safety wire in accordance with the mandatory service bulletin.
2. Temporarily attached the fuel pickup and check fit. Once satisfied I torqued the compression nut to the 90 degree angle connector.
3. Cleco the anti-rotation device to the access cover, drill the rivet holes to size and drill the safety wire hole.
4. Mix the tank sealant and get ready to seal. rivet and screw.
5. Apply sealant to the anti-rotation device and rivets, then rivet it to the access cover.
6. Safety the B nut to the anti-rotation device IAW the service bulletin,
7. Apply sealant to the 90 degree fitting front and back, install nut and torque.
8. Apply sealant to the back side of the fuel level sensor and insert it in its access hole. Apply sealant to the five screws and insert and tighten.
9. Apply sealant to the access cover back and the fuel tank. Place access cover on the fuel tank and tighten the twelve screws.

Once the tank sealant was mixed, all photos stopped. I had that all over my gloves, my tools, my work bench. So I did not add my camera to that list.

After finishing the task and cleaning up the mess, I checked the fuel level sensor and it seems to be working properly. That is to say the correct Ohm reading for the position it is in. I added the flap hinge pin nutplate to hold the pins in place. I did not take a picture, but if you go back a few entries you can see the one on the right wing. I also tied the landing light wires together for anti-chaffing.
