Brief Description:  Putting the wings on - 04

Last night I did a lot of research on hanging the wings and checking the incidence. Vans has an article on their web site about making it simple. I read it twice and the plans probably three times. My wife and I went to the hangar this morning and measured ONE MORE TIME. There are several places to measure so here are the measurements.

1. Placing four plumb bobs on the leading edge and check against a line on the floor. I used a laser level and checked from the left and right side. Three of the bobs (the two on the right wing and the outboard bob on the left wing) were dead on. The other bob was 2/32"s off the line.

2. Using a different laser level and the wing incidence block as described on page 38 of the plans I check each wing at four different locations. The measurements on each wing had two at 0.1 and two at level. Average is 0.05 per wing and the tolerance is level using a bubble level.

3. I measured the triangulation from each wing tip and a center line at the tail. The left wing was 192 11/16"s and the right wing was 192 13/16" or a difference of 1/8", tolerance from Vans is 1/2".

4. I also measured the heigth of each wing tip, I meant to write it down but I remember the difference was 1/16th. There is that much difference in the floor.
